Why Kladde

Some recipes only exist in one person’s handwriting.

Kladde started with one chef and a shelf of notebooks full of recipes written over years of service. We built it so those pages can be searched, cooked from and kept, word for word, without losing the page they came from.

Privacy

Your recipes stay yours.

A chef’s recipes are their work. We treat them that way.

Stored in Switzerland and the EU

The app and your recipes run on Swiss servers in Basel; photos are kept in private storage in EU data centres.

Not used for AI training

Pages are read only through the paid APIs of Google, OpenAI and Anthropic, which don’t train on what you send.

Download all recipes as a file and every original photo. Nothing is locked in.

What exactly is a credit?

One credit reads one photographed page, so a recipe on two pages costs two credits. Translating a recipe costs 1, allergens and nutrition 1, an AI dish photo 3. Anything that fails is free.

What happens to my photos?

They stay private in your cookbook, together with the recipe, and are never deleted unless you delete them. To read a page, it is sent to an AI provider that doesn’t use it for training.

Can I cancel Pro?

Yes, at any time in the app. Pro stays active until the end of the year you paid for. Credits you bought extra never expire.

Can several people use one kitchen?

Yes: up to 3 people on Pro and Connect, up to 10 on Team. The owner invites the team by email; everyone sees and edits the same recipes. The free plan is for one person.

Can I get my recipes out again?

Always. Export all recipes as a file and download every original photo as a ZIP, directly in the app.

Which AI reads my recipes?

The paid API of Google (Gemini), with OpenAI and Anthropic as backups. They don’t train on what you send, and only the page being read goes to them. Your recipes stay on our servers in Switzerland, photos in EU data centres. On Connect your own key is used and your provider’s terms apply, so use a paid account: free AI plans may train on your data.

What happens if I stop using Kladde?

Free accounts that nobody signs in to for 12 months are deleted. We email you 7 days and 1 day before, and signing in once is enough to keep everything. Paid kitchens are never deleted for inactivity.
